RESULT
Newtown 1 - 1 Cardiff City - Report.

City drew away at Newtown tonight with Gareth Stoker equalising for Cardiff in the second half. Part timers Newtown took the lead early on through Jonathon Williams. Russell Osman played the full ninety minutes and it was his clever reverse pass that set Stoker up for his goal. From the brief TV highlights it seemed that Osman played quite well. He too the corners which were varied and had an early free kick go just wide. Poor defending from a back three of Harriott, Jarman and Eckhardt, allowed Newtown to take the lead, a ball from the right cleared the central defender and there was no cover so Williams was able to volley home unchallenged.

In fairness the conditions were atrocious. You would not put a dog out in the rain they played in last night. The pitch was full of mud puddles and to get through 90 mins was an achievement.

Tony Philliskirk has joined Conference leaders Halifax on a months loan.

FAW Cup action tonight with City looking to score for the first time in four and a half matches.

RESULT
Cardiff City 0 - 0 Peterborough - Report.

City keeper Jon Hallworth kept Cardiff in todays game with a string of second half saves that left the crowd on their feet giving him a standing ovation. He was rightly voted sponsors Man of ther Match. Cardiff had the better of the first half but were under serious pressure from Peterboro in the second. This was a good entertaining football game which should have been an away win but for Hallworth. City played well at times and created chances but none were converted. Poor refereeing did not help either side.

RESULT
Cardiff City 3 - 1 Hendon. - Report.

Carl Dale scored twice (21 and 45) with one inbetween from Andy Saville (41) to give City a 3 - 0 first half lead. This proved to be too big a challenge for Hendon who did pull one back on 86 mins from Naseem Bashir but never looked like threatening the 3rd round draw. Cardiff will be waiting with baited breath for the draw at 6:15pm (GMT) on Sunday. The third round takes place w/e 2/3/4.1.98. City are due to play away at Chester on the 3rd. I presume it will be postponed and rearranged for a later date.

Hendon arrive in Cardiff tomorrow with their band of part time footballers looking for a notable FA Cup scalp. The team is made up of the usual Clerks, insurance salesmen etc. One of the team works in Kensington in pest control. The rat catcher is looking to snare the Cardiff players in his trap.

Local bookmakers Jack Brown are offering odds of 4-9 on cardiff winning on Saturday with Hendon at 6-1 (must be worth a pound). The draw is 13-5.

Mark Harris and Scot Young are both trying to overcome injury in time to play on Saturday. City will be without Scott Paterson and Glen Crowe who are both ineligable for cup matches. Kevin Nugent is making good progress and could feature in City's Auto Windscreen Cup game next Tuesday at home to Millwall. Jeff Eckhardt will be slightly longer. Jason Fowler could also be back by next Tuesday.

Tuesday 2nd December 1997

Colchester Utd v Cardiff City - POSTPONED.

Bad weather in Essex has caused the postponement of todays game in Colchester.

City yesterday signed 23 yeard old Marvin Harriott on a non contract basis. Harriett is a defender who for the past year or so has been playing for Fortuna Dusseldorf. He has been involved with Russell Osman in the past at Bristol City. He will come to Cardiff when needed but in the meantime will probably play with a non league outfit in the London area.
