Well, what can one say. If Bury scored in the 122nd minute then my tone would have been reflective of a bad performance and how tactically crap we were. As it was Mike Ford's winner for the Bluebirds leans me into a more optimistic review.

City had 75% of the play all game, Bury came looking for a 0 - 0 and they very nearly got it. I can only think of two noticable attempts at goal by the Shakers, one crashed back off the post and the other produced a fine save on the ground from Hallworth. City on the other hand went close on several occasions, especially in the first half of extra time when we could have put three into the net.

The play at times was desperate Cardiff insisted on giving possession away. Bury then gave it back again. The back three continually hoisted long balls towards Nugent up front, they never did seem to realise he was not playing. Jason Bowen went head to head with a 6' defender on several occasions. Only one winner there. When the ball was kept low and given to feet we looked lively.

I thought Andy Legg had a very indifferent game, it took the best part of 30 mins before he attempted a long throw. He was 100% comitted again but something was wrong. Perrett played well and was voted sponsors man of the match. Not sure which sponsors because when I went into the bar after the game there was about 8 different groups all sponsering something or other.

Bury in fairness were a poor side. They should have been steamrollered. They were aggressive and dirty at times. Several players showed dissent to the referee but he only booked two of them.

We are a better side than our current position suggests but we lack a killer instinct. Most 50/50 balls went the other way. This reflection mirrors the whole season from what I have seen, not just tonight.

But at the end of the day we played for 120 mins and a couple more. Thats what the game is all about. I genuinely thought that Bury would nick it. They had a corner and a free kick near the box in injury time after 120 mins and I thought they would get a goal. When Hallworth cleared I prayed for the final whistle to go so we could have a chance in the penalties. Then out of the blue we got a corner and the rest as they say is history.

Congratulations to all esp Mike Ford who was knackerd but still got into the right place at the right time.

Its not always about how you play, the result means alot more than that. Lets hope we can go into the next 4 games (all away) and grind out some more results like tonight.
