City are 10 days away from the start of a new season in a higher division and there is a crisis at the back. The only two recognised central defenders that are fit are Jeff Eckhardt and Lee Jarman. Mike Ford looks to be a long term injury keeping him out for a few more weeks. Scott Young suffered a groin injury at Bath last night. New signing Russel Perrett picked up a groin strain in Scotland while Lee Phillips injured his ankle in Scotland. City were hoping for Paul Mardon to sign from West Brom but he injured himself in a friendly which would have been his last match before joining City. That injury will keep him out of the game for at least 6 months. Graham Mitchell, City's other defender was sold to Halifax last week.
