barry.jpg (9402 bytes)Tonight Frank Burrows has thrown down the gauntlet to the young strikers who cannot get into the first team. City will field a strong line up against Barry with the attackers taking centre stage. There will be chances for Jamie Hughes, Chris Roberts and Rob Earnshaw to show the boss they are worthy of a place against Orient on Saturday. After the poor return from Kevin Nugent and Dai Thomas at Wigan last weekend it was obvious to me sat in the stand that we were woefully short of pace up front.

City are likely to include Tony Vaughan in the starting line up as he will cup tied fr the Orient game. Mike Ford Scott Young and Lee Jarman are in the squad tonight and all will be hoping to get the third defending slot alongside Jeff Eckhardt and Russell Perrett on Saturday.  Craig Middleton, John Cornforth, Richard Carpenter and Matt Brazier will provide the midfield tonight and all will be hoping to get themselves back into automatic selection for the first team.

Its hoped that Jason Bowen and Mark Bonner will both be on the bench tonight and may see some action as they aim to retake their first team places after returning from injury.bluebird.gif (2236 bytes)

All in all the line up tonight will consist mainly of second choice players, nearly all will have good reason to get into the first team. I think some of the names playing tonight can do a better job that those currently first choice. Its now up to them to prove it.

The full squad is. Kelly, Phillips, Vaughan, Ford, Jarman, Young, Brazier, Middleton, Cornforth, Carpenter, Earnshaw, Roberts, Hughes, Bonner, Bowen.
