| September Headlines |
City once again failed to turn domination into 3 points. Wigan were no mugs and both sides cancelled each other out for an hour with very few goalmouth incidents. Wigan were reduced to 10 men on the hour. Cardiff then had 90% of the play but could not get the goal they needed for victory. The best chances fell to Winston Faerber whose rasping shot was saved well by the Wigan keeper and a screamer from Kevin Nugent that just flew over the bar with only minutes remaining. Wigans best effort was a curling shot from Simon Howarth. Danny Hill returned as a second half substitue and was the most skillful player on the pitch. Man of the match rightly went to Tony Vaughan who is class. No questions that boy is brilliant. City have kept their unbeaten home league run going. If they avoid defeat in the next home game on Oct 16th we will have gone a whole year without losing a league game at Ninian Park. Now City have three away matches, Brentford on Tuesday, Bury next Saturday and Bristol Rovers the Saturday after. If we have been offered 4 points from games v Notts County and Wigan before we played them we would have been happy but we should have won today. We must provide a more clinical approach in the away games. We must try to earn 5 - 6 points from these three matches. We do not want to be left behind. |
