| Fri 24th Dec 1999 - Festive match previews | |
| December Headlines |
The next two matches are crucial. Both are against teams below us the league. Its time for the worm to turn now. Reading and Cambridge are both struggling and we have to break free from the dogfight for the relegation slots. If only the possession we are enjoying in our matches could be turned into goals. City have a few scores to settle with Reading. Andy Legg and Jason Bowen both joined City from Reading after they were humiliated by former boss Tommy Burns. They will be up for Sundays game. The whole club wants a victory to erase the painful thoughts of the penalty shoot out at Elm Park two seasons ago when the Royals knocked us out of the FA Cup. Cambridge, who were promoted last season with us, are finding league points very hard to comeby. They are doing well in the FA Cup but struggling with the league form. At the time of writing I do not have full team news. There has been no confirmation yet as to whether we have signed Onuora. As far as I know there are no new injury worries, Mike Ford, who limped off against Bolton and Andy Legg have both been receiving treatment this week but are both hopeful of being fit. May I wish you all a very merry Christmas and look forward to hopefully topping off the festive celebrations with a few points in the bag. The site will be updated over the holiday but maybe not as regular as normal. I will update on Sunday evening after the Reading game and late Tuesday / Wednesday morning after the Cambridge game. If we do manage to bag a couple of wins then the opening fixture of the new millenium will be a cracker against Preston. Nadolig Llawen. |
