High flying Wigan in their superb new stadium were too good for City and the Latics ran out worthy winners. A poor show from Cardiff who were always going to struggle with Kevin Nugent and Dai Thomas up front, there was no injection of pace in the final third of the field. Hallworth, a virtual spectator for most of the match had three jobs to do, one, a good save and the other two occasions to get the ball out his net. City played plenty of football in the middle of the park but nothing up front.
