Now I am beging to sound like a stuck record. Plenty of possession, plenty of slick passing and NO cutting edge. Again City have won praise for their style of football but thats no good when you are losing every game. Chances were created by City but the final killer touch was lacking, Bolton on the other hand forced Jon Hallworth into umpeen saves, we just could not get a strike on goal. Too many times passing movements came to a halt by either ending up in the corners with nowhere to go or by a slack pass which gave the possession away. Then we were on the back foot and Bolton could swarm forward. Possession football is all well and good if you can use it with effect. I'm sorry to say that at the moment we cannot use it effectively. I must mention Bolton and the Reebok Stadium. It is without doubt a fantactstic ground. Strangely shaped inside with stands that are so high, the press box was lost in the mist for most of the game. From the outside it is unbelieveable, especially as it came into view through the fog. The fans on the other hand were a funny bunch, I know that they have been ripped off by their club so the thought of £14-£20 to watch a second division team a few days before Christmas may have put several thousand off, but I would have expected the hardcore of about 4,000 trotters fans that did turn up to support their team. It had a them and us feel about it. At the final whistle City were chanting and singing and the players came over an applauded us. Not Bolton, the players went straight for the tunnel and the fans just left. No celebrating a Cup victory. I do not meen the above as an attack on the Bolton fans, the guys on the message board recently have been brilliant and I'm sure there are many passionate Bolton fans out there. I just hope that the Cardiff fans never get to the stage where they do not feel comfortable with the football team. The passion us Cardiff fans have is incredible and long may it continue. |
