So the unbeaten home league run has come to an end. It may be a blessing, the pressure to get at least a draw has now been lifted. I was unable to make the game tonight but from the commentary I hear City were all over Stoke in the second half and the goal was against the run of play. It was a gift to Stoke when they took the lead in the first half when a cross was missed by all bar Peter Thorne who headed powerfully past Hallworth on 23 mins, City got themselves back into the game when Andy Legg fired a daisy cutter free kick into the net on 41 mins. City as I say took hold of the game but could not score. O'Connor then hit a shot from the edge of the box on 84 mins with the outside of his boot to win the match. On now to Wigan, the Latics were held at Wrexham tonight but will be firm favoutites to turn us over at the JJB on Saturday. Come on Blues, we beat Wigan the last time we played them (that was at Springfield Park), the only goal scored by Simon Haworth, who now happens to be one of their top strikers. |
