Scott Young made a scoring return to action after injury last night as City beat neighbours Inter Cardiff 3 - 0 in a hastily arranged friendly at the University fields in Llanrumney.

Young capped his performance with City's second goal. Chris Roberts gave City the lead on 21 minutes after a Lee Jarman pass was headed across goal by Jamie Hughes and Roberts stretched to fire the ball into the top of the net. On the stroke of half time John Cornforth put over a free kick which Dai Thomas chested down, keeper Gary Wager saved and Scott Young was on hand to put the ball into into the empty net. Matt Brazier completed the scoring on 52 minutes.

Cornforth controlled the game with a solid performance in midfield.

Scott Young is now back in contention for first team action. Frank Burrows and Billy Ayre were both away scouting last night and may feel Young is not quite ready for the first team but Young himself feels he is ready.

Both Russell Perrett and Richard Carpenter will miss Friday's game but carpenter is expected to start training again this week.

City team from last night. Kelly, Owen (Cadette), Jarman, Thomas, Phillips, Young (capt), Cornforth, Middleton, Hughes (Earnshaw), Roberts, Brazier. Subs not used. Loveless, Davis.
