Lets get the bad news out of the way first. CITY WERE DIRE. If there is any consolation Oldham are even worse. They managed one effort on target and scored from it, a header from a flicked on corner after 17 mins. The good news comes at the bottom of this report after my observations of today's game

City looked as if they were going to run up a cricket score when they exposed the Oldham defence time and time again in the first 15 mins. After that it was a nightmare.

The most outstanding moments were.

1. Dai Thomas scoring.
2. The fight between Middleton and Faerber. Our own bloody players.
3. The final whistle.

It was a game to forget, very quickly. There was a Stoke City scout sat behind me, he was probably laughing in his boots. They will have nothing to fear when they come here on Tuesday.

Also sat behind me was a Man Utd scout. He left about 2 mins after Danny Hill was substituted. Make of that what you will.

The most influential character on the pitch was the referee, he managed to avoid giving City two clear penalties and made several other strange decisions.

Kevin Nugent missed City's best other chances, esp when 1 on 1 with their keeper. His lack of pace was a factor plus a shite shot at goal.

The good news from the day was that City have managed to go a whole calender year without losing at home in the league. Thanks to my friend John (Statto) Heyda for the info, it is only the second time (post war) that City have achieved such a feat.

The last time was from Aug 20th 1951 upto Sep 10th 1952. That team who also earned promotion in 1952 went 22 games unbeaten in the league in 386 days.

This current team have now gone 368 days. If they avoid defeat against Stoke it will go up to 382 days and a new record will be created if we do not lose against Blackpool on Nov 2nd.

Roll on Stoke City and lets get this game erased from the memory.
