The proposed £2.5m investment from Clive Sullivan's consortium has been given a boost today when the Football League gave a positive verbal response to the deal.

Steve Borley was over the moon with the news which will be rubber stamped by the league in January.

There are a couple of minor points to be finalised but its all in hand.

An extraordinary meeting of the shareholders today gave their full backing to the proposals and have authorised the issue of enough shares to make it possible for Sullivans consortium to hold 55% of the club. Nearly 98% of the current shareholders voted and the support was unanimous.

Wake up and smell the coffee folks, this looks to be the real thing. January 25th, 2000 is the date due for the complettion of the takeover.

Speaking on the Message Board Chairman Steve Borley had this message tonight.

Despite the report in tonights Echo there is still work to do to conclude the deal with the new investors. The board and the shareholders have passed the resolutions to enable the agreement to be finalised and we are unlikely to recieve any opposition to the deal from the football league. There however two hurdles to overcome, i.e the level of support from businesses and the fans and the question of a future home for Cardiff City. I would remind the fans that Clive Sullivan is on record as saying that they will monitor the levels of support over the coming weeks. WE NEED YOUR HELP TO ENSURE THE GROUND IS FULL FOR THE TWO CHRISTMAS GAMES, OUR FUTURE DEPENDS ON IT. I am druming up support amongst the business comunity, the Council and holding discussions with the Millenium Stadium to futher the cause, but your support will send home the strongest message to the new investors that we are worth a punt. PLEASE SPREAD THE MESSAGE YOUR CLUB DEPENDS ON YOU.
