Here we go again. A managers post comes
up and the first name mentioned is our Frank's. Sam (let me at im) Allardyce resigned on
Wednesday from Meadow Lane shocking the whole football club. It now seems the vacant
managers job in Bolton could be reserved for him.
Usually talk of managers is just that, talk. But
Frank only has 6 months of his contract at Ninian Park to go, Steve Borley has been trying
to get him to extend it but at the moment without success. Added to that Notts County
wanted Frank before they appointed Allardyce. Colin Todd who left Bolton is also a name in
the ring. Better for them to appoint a man out of work surely.
I dont think Frank would desert us, he is on a
roll at the moment, promotion, money available, quality players in the squad. But this is
a shot across the boughs of the board that unless they keep the manager happy there are
other teams out there who are interested.
In addition this report is in The Mirror
on Sat 16th Oct.
FRANK Burrows last night pledged his immediate future to Cardiff City, despite
being wanted by Notts County for the second time in two years.
"I have a good job at Cardiff. I still have six or seven months to go on my contract
- and I will see it out," said Burrows.
But he left the door at least partly open by adding: "Of course I am interested if
anyone wants to employ me. I have to work for a living.
"Right now the only thing I can think about is our game against Oldham," said
Burrows.
County have put the 56-year-old at the top of their list to succeed Sam Allardyce, who
quit the Meadow Lane club earlier this week and is set to take over at his old club
Bolton.
Ironically they moved for Burrows two years ago - and were turned down.
Cardiff are desperate to keep the man who has transformed the club since he began his
second spell as manager 20 months ago.
He left a Premiership coaching post with West Ham, taking a pay cut, to return to south
Wales and guide Cardiff to promotion to the Second Division last season.
Cardiff chairman Steve Borley will open talks on a new contract with Burrows, aimed at
keeping him at Ninian Park for the rest of his working life.
He said: "If you have the best manager in the division you expect him to be the No.1
target. But we would refuse County permission to speak to Frank. I cannot think he would
want to go anyway."
Midfielder Jason Fowler is back in the squad but Jason Bowen is still ruled out with an
ankle injury. |
