Jorn Schwinkendorf will make his City debut in tonights clash with Merthyr. With the departure of Tony Vaughan and the injury worries over Scott Young and Mike Ford, Jorn could find himself a regular place in the starting XI. Russell Perrett is available for tonight but will not play as Burrows wants to give his first choice XI a run out in preparation for the game at Burnley on Saturday. Perrett cannot play at Turf Moor as he is suspended. Jamie Hughes is also available. Unconfirmed reports list the XI to play tonight as. Hallworth, Faerber, Schwinkendorf, Eckhardt, Ford, Legg, Bonner, Carpenter, Brazier, Bowen and Humphreys. Subs from Kelly, Perrett, Fowler, Middleton, Boland, Hill, Roberts, Low and Hughes. There is speculation on the message board about a triallist defender Gordon Day. I'll mention him now just in case but he is a mystery. It is suggested he will be on the bench tonight but I'm sceptical. City welcome Merthyr tonight and welcome a string of familiar faces. Merthyr are led by former City manager Jimmy Mullen. On the playing staff are Gareth Abrahams, Cohen Griffith and Tom Ramasut. Tony Bird is currently on loan at Merthyr but is cup tied. Obviously the cancellation at Bolton has left the team void of action over the last 7 days. A win is vital tonight to get some confidence back after succesive defeats against Northampton and Millwall. After tonights game we have away trips to Burnley and Bolton, then bank holiday fixtures against Reading at Ninian Park and Cambridge away and then promotion chasing Preston come to Ninian Park all those fixtures come in the space of 16 days. What a vital Christmas period this will be. |
