| Mon 13th Dec 1999 - Borley to apologise. | |
| December Headlines |
Steve Borley will formally apologise to Bolton Wanderers after his light hearted comments were blown out of proportion by the Sunday papers. Borley claims the papers misquoted him and turned his joke like comments into a serious attack of Bolton Wanderers. Claims that Borley had seen the pitch were unfounded as he was in the Midlands when news of the postponement came through and he turned around and never got with 80 miles of the Reebok. Frank Burrows was with the match referee when the game was called off and he had no problems with the descision. When all said and done its still of little comfort to 1,300 City fans who had started out on their journeys. Bolton say their ground staff stop working on the pitch on Friday because of the rain. It would have damaged the pitch further to have continued working on it. Surley if there was a threat of a postponement a warning should have been issued on Friday. Tickets purchased for last Saturdays game will be valid for next Tuesday. Those who cannot make it to Bolton can get a refund from the ticket office. |
