bluebird.gif (2236 bytes)No new injuries to report on the playing front. City will be at full strength with the return of loan players Tony Vaughan and Josh Low. Vaughan is likely to come straight back into the starting XI with either Ford Perrett dropped to the bench. Low at best can expect a place on the bench. Richard Carpenter will be hoping to keep the holding place in midfield and Frank will probably stick with Nugent and Bowen up front. Chris Roberts who impressed in his 5 minutes against Orient will be keen to get a better chance tonight. The return of Low though could put Chris' place in jeopardy.

ANDY LEGG and Matthew Brazier are determined to quash the theory that two into one won’t go.

The Cardiff City pair were expected to contest the left-back berth at Ninian Park this season - but the two players teamed up to devastating effect during the midweek FA Cup victory over Leyton Orient.

Legg and Brazier interchanged effortlessly between wing-back and midfield on the left as Cardiff claimed their first win - FAW Premier Cup aside - since September 18.

“I think we proved that we can operate successfully in the same side,” said five-times capped Legg ahead of tonight’s Division Two visit of fellow strugglers Chesterfield (7.45).

“I felt we combined particularly well against Orient.

“We have not been in the same side that much but we are quietly learning to work together.

“Matthew’s a good player, and he is intelligent as well. He will cover me or move inside when I go forward - and vice versa.

“I like to think that with the two of us there it creates double the problems for opposing defences.”

On-loan defender Tony Vaughan will be recalled after missing the 3-1 defeat of Orient that gave City a second-round tie at Bury. Vaughan is likely to replace either Russell Perrett or Mike Ford in the heart of the City defence.

Wales Under-21 forward Josh Low has been added to the squad, but manager Frank Burrows is likely to keep faith with the partnership of Jason Bowen and Kevin Nugent.

WELSH international Andy Legg is optimistic that Cardiff can seal their first League victory in two months against Chesterfield tonight.

"We know how vital this game is - but we believe we have the quality to win it," said Legg.

"And I hope we can prove to anyone who doubts it that Matt Brazier and myself can operate successfully together in the same side."

Legg, whose wholehearted efforts have made him Cardiff's player of the season so far, and Brazier will link up on the left, as they did in the midweek FA Cup replay victory over Leyton Orient.

"I felt we combined pretty well against Orient," said Legg. "We haven't been in the side together all that often but we are quickly learning to work off each other.

"Matt is an intelligent player, he'll cover me or move inside when I go forward, and vice versa. With the two of us there it creates an extra problem for opposing defences."

Cardiff may move for Belgian striker David Paas, 28, who was watched by Bluebirds boss Frank Burrows on Sunday and is available under the Bosman ruling.
