Yesterday's papers carried an article on the strikers that Cardiff City have been trying to attract on loan. It was revealed that City had approached West Ham for Samassi Abou, Celtic for Tommy Johnson and Blackburn for ex City player Nathan Blake. Steve Borley was answering back at the critics who keep insisting that the club has no money and will not be able to sign more players. While the club could never afford whe millions of pounds to buy these players they could live with their wages. Borley revealed that City are paying £4,000 a week to Tony Vaughan, and they have just extended the loan period to two months. Borley also hit out at the agents and managers of the above mentioned players for being negative. Brian Kidd was not keen on letting Blake out on loan and the agents of Johnson and Abou foiled the prospective moves to Ninian Park. He was convinced they had a deal with Abou until his agent blocked it.

The club are continuing to try and strengthen the team, Jerry Taihuttu was of interest last week but after seeing him play Frank did not feel he was any better than the current strikers we have (even though he did score a hattrick).

If the names mentioned above are the calibre of player we are trying to attract then well done to the board for their enthusiasm. There is a restriction though on the number of loan players a team is allowed to have in a season so we must be looking for a couple of purchases as well.
