10 man Cardiff proved themselves worthy of the second division with a 1 - 1 draw at home to Millwall. City went one down after a penalty was given against Jason Fowler on 37 minutes. Fowler was given a yellow card for that offence and a further rash challenge later in the second half earned him the red card. Willie Boland scored City's goal on 45 minutes from the spot after Jason Bowen was brought down.

Boland kept his composure to slot the ball home as the penalty area was awash with missiles thrown from the Grange End which was sparcely occupied by Millwall fans.

All in all a draw was satisfactory but City have nothing to fear if they can take advantage of their dominance. Good performances from Echardt especially and Legg, Bowen and Faerber. Kevin Nugent replaced Dai Thomas at half time and City were a better team for Nugents presence.
