Subs Andy Legg and Jason Bowen saved Cardiff's blushes and earned the Bluebirds 3 points. City were reduced to 10 men when Willie Boland was sent off a for combination of attempted violent conduct and dissent. Boland himself was fouled but was alledged by the referee to have tried to headbut the Newtown player and was sent off. The Newtown player was given a yellow card. After that Andy Legg came on and turned the game City's way. He scored with a header and then Jason Bowen came on and scored with minutes of his arrival. Nathan Cadette was the final City sub to come on. Newtown did pull one back with a fine goal but Cardiff deserved the points because they were the better team but they were not convincing and was a shame to see fringe players not trying hard enough to show their intentions for getting into the first team.

Hail Andy Legg, John Cornforth and Jason Bowen, Cornforth was man of the match with a solid midfield display Legg and Bowen were real livewires when they cam on as subs and won the game for City.
