| Fri 3rd Dec 1999 - Millwall preview. | |
| December Headlines |
Cardiff go into the game on the back of a good run which has seen only one defeat in the last 6 games, a run which has included 4 wins and 3 clean sheets. Millwall are riding high though and have been banging in the goals in recent games. Tony Vaughan returns to the squad and could be playing his last league game for the Bluebirds. His loan period expires on Dec 16th but tomorrow is the last league game in that period. he will be ineligable for the cup game at Bolton on Saturday week but he can play against Northampton next Tuesday in the AutoWindscreen and at Merthyr on Dec 14th in the FAW Cup. Jorn Schwinkendorf travelled with the team today as an 18 man squad left Cardiff. Mike Ford is in the 18 man party but is likely to be replaced by Vaughan. I would have thought that Schwinkendorf may have to settle for a place on the bench as Russell Perrett and Jeff Eckhardt have been in good form. Richie Humphreys is also in the 18. He is likely to come in for Christian Roberts. There was good news from Danny Wilson at Sheff Wed this morning, he has allowed Cardiff City to use Richie in the FA Cup at Bolton next week. I would think we will revert to the XI that started last Saturdays game v Gillingham. The full squad is. Hallworth, Kelly, Legg, Faerber, Eckhardt, Perrett, Vaughan, Ford, Schwinkendorf, Hill, Fowler, Bonner, Bowen, Carpenter, Boland, Brazier, Humphreys and Roberts. Kevin Nugent and Scott Young miss out through injury and Josh Low, Craig Middleton and Dai Thomas did not make the bus. Jason Fowler who injured his hamstring in a
reserve game on Wednesday travels but I would think he will be one of the two to miss out
of the 16 on duty. City have two players with suspensions coming up. Andy Legg will miss the Northampton game after picking up 5 yellow cards and Russell Perrett will miss the FA Cup tie at Bolton after his sending off last Saturday. |
