| September Headlines |
Cardiff open the 1999 / 2000 FAW Premier Cup campaign with a home tie against Newtown. With there being no league football this weekend it's like that City will field a strong line up in this game. Several players are unavailable. Lee Jarman, Rob Earnshaw and Chris Roberts are in Minsk with the Wales U21 squad. Russell Perrett, Danny Hill, Mark Bonner and Lee Phillips and injured. It was hoped that Perrett and Hill would be fit play this game but they are now aiming at a return to action at Wycombe next Saturday. The Russell Perrett saga has taken so long due to an infection in his foot after a knock against Millwall. While he can run and train with the rest of the squad he cannot kick a ball yet (2 seasons ago that would have guaranteed him a first team place). Lee Phillips picked up an injury in the draw at Afan Lido on Wednesday night. Willie Boland and Richard Carpenter both came off the bench for City last Monday and played in the friendly on Wednesday, I would expect them to play from the start tomorrow. Jamie Hughes is likely to play from the start, possibly with Dai Thomas getting a run out. Dai has been on the bench all season but has not yet made an appearance. Season ticket holders get into the game for free tomorrow. Kick off is at 2:30pm. Cardiff City are taking this match seriously and aim to win convincingly. Come along. |
