Dai Thomas picked up a double hat trick yesterday, scoring 6 times as City reserves scored a convincing 8 - 1 win against Bath University. Jamie Hughes and Rob Earnshaw were also on the scoresheet. The game was also Jorn Schwinkendorf's first in a City shirt. The 6'5 defender had a comfortable game but was beaten a couple of times in the air?

There were good performances from Low, Thomas, Boland and Hill. Not such good news for Jason Fowler, he has damaged his hamstring is unlikely to feature at Millwall on Saturday. The full team was. Kelly, Low, Middleton, Schwinkendorf, Fowler, Phillips, Boland, Hill, Thomas, Hughes, Earnshaw. Subs all used were Wallis, Higginson and Jennings.

Tickets are now on sale for the away trips to Millwall, Bolton and Burnley. Millwall this Saturday is strictly all ticket and fans are advised to be careful when making what will hopefully turn out to be a peaceful trip to the New Den.

Bolton on Dec 11th ko 3:00pm is ALL TICKET. Cardiff have been allocated around 1700 seats in the South Stand Lower. Tickets cost £14.00 for adults, £11.00 for OAP's and disabled supporters and £5.00 for U16's. Tickets are on sale now at the ticket office.

Burnley on Dec 18th ko 3:00pm is pay at the gate. Entry costs £13.00 for adults, £6.50 for OAP's and U16's. Wheelchair users get free entry but there is a £10.00 cost per helper.

Merthyr away in the FAW has been rearranged for Tuesday 11th January. The game was scheduled for next Tuesday but was postponed after we did not receive a bye in the 1st round of the Auto something Cup.

Children in Need. The charity night at the Ice Rink last night looks to have raised £900.00 for the kids. Mike Ford led the City team of Ford, Boland and Fowler (91 points) to victory over Cardiff RFC (87 pts) and the Devils on 81 pts.

Early team news. City welcome back Richie Humphreys, Tony Vaughan and Josh Low to the squad for Saturdays game at Millwall. Also available is Jorn Schwinkendorf. (I saw Jorn the other night, he towered above Kevin Nugent who was stood next to him). Kevin is still ruled out as is Scott Young. Jason Fowler who injured his hamstring yesterday also looks to be out as well. Apart from that at the moment everyone else is in contention. Mike Ford, Tuesdays goal hero, may well make place for Tony Vaughan.

The following article appeared in the Western Mail today.

MIKE FORD’S reward for sending Cardiff City through to the third round of the FA Cup could be a place on the substitutes’ bench.

City skipper Ford prevented a penalty shootout at Ninian Park on Tuesday by heading the 120th-minute decider that ended Bury’s cup hopes.

But Ford knows that not even his sense of perfect timing could save him when Frank Burrows gets round to picking his team for the game at Millwall on Saturday.

Ford has been in the shadows in recent weeks - and Manchester City defender Tony Vaughan will be eligible again for the league trip to the New Den.

“Obviously, I would like to keep my place in the team,” said Ford, who has made nearly 200 league appearances in two spells at Cardiff. but there is a lot of competition for places and it is not going to be easy.”

Jorn Schwinkendorf is also standing by for his debut after a £110,000 move from German club SV Mannheim - but the well-travelled Ford is already relishing a day out in the cup at Bolton Wanderers.

“I’ve never played at the new stadium there,” he said.

“But it is going to be a tough game as Bolton have done well in recent weeks. We have to make sure that we do not simply treat it as a day out. We have to do ourselves credit.”

Ford revealed that his last-gasp winner against Bury saved him from personal spot-kick torment.

“There was nobody more relieved than me because I was going to take a penalty,” he said. “But I wasn’t looking forward to it. After two hours in the pouring rain I was feeling shattered and my kit was wet through.

“The thought of having to take a penalty was starting to haunt me.

“But luckily I managed to get to Andy Legg’s corner and we didn’t have to worry about penalties.”
