A win, a top 6 place, a game in hand, a home game coming up, a new signing with 7 goals in 6 games, only two teams in the top 6 at the start of play actually winning the omens are looking good.

City moved into the play off places thanks to a 2 - 0 win at Saltergate against Chesterfield. Leo FW was originally credited with City's opening goal but it has since been awarded to Daniel Gabbidon, his second goal in consecutive games. New signing Andy Campbell scored his 7th goal in 6 games to make it 2 - 0 and City hardly looked back.

For the best part of an hour the Bluebirds were in control and it was only when they decided a two goal lead was enough did the City take their foot off the gas.

Leaders Reading drew at Bristol City to enable Cardiff to go into 6th place. Brighton in second have joined Reading on goal difference after winning at Colchester and thrid place Brentford beat rivals Stoke 2 - 1. Huddersfield were held at Wrexham.

Below City the chasing teams did themselves no favours. Tranmere were beaten at home and Oldham only managed a draw at home to relegated Cambridge.

Bristol City apart the nearest challenge comes from Q.P.R and they are 6 points behind having played a game more.

The top of the table looks like this.

New signing Stephen Bywater and Gary Croft were on the bench along with Earnie, Mark Bonner and Paul Brayson. Only Earnie and Bywater were not used.

So onto Port Vale at Ninian Park on Monday With Bristol City at joint leaders Brighton on Monday if City win and Bristol lose then we could have virtually sealed a play off place.

Hats off to Lennie Lawrence. 8 games, 6 wins, 2 draws. A firm favourite for manager of the month (although the curse that comes with it would not be welcome). Lennie is our manager of the moment that's for sure.

City will make it 4 wins in a row if they beat Port Vale and 4 league doubles in a row as well.

Lets the good times roll. Keep April 27th and April 30th free. We just might have a couple of play off games to play.
