Thorne scoring for City in his last game in December

Peter Thorne yesterday came through 45 mins of the reserve defeat against Portsmouth. Thorne scored for City from the penalty spot.

Attention now turns to Thursday and what involvement Thorne will have against Brighton.

Should he play from the start, should he be on the bench or does he need more time before going into the first team?

Initial indications from Alan Cork are that Thorne, if he suffers no reaction from the reserve game, will be on the bench.

It looks as if Thorne will play some part and with no striker scoring for City in over a month his return, with all due respect to Leo and Gavin Gordon, can't come soon enough.

The dream team pairing of Thorne and Earnshaw could start tomorrow as the club have revealed through the official website that both players are in the travelling party. There is also a return to the squad for Michael Simpkins, the young left back made a 90 minute return against Portsmouth yesterday. Mark Walton travels as the covering goalkeeper. Gavin Gordon misses the game through injury.
