Oldham moved a place above City after they beat play off rivals Brentford at Boundary Park. The Latics won 3 - 2 and moved into 7th place one ahead of City but having played a game more. The big winners tonight were Reading, who won 2 - 0 at Wycombe to go 6 points clear of Brighton. The Seagulls only managed a 1 - 1 draw at Bournemouth. The gap on Brighton was closed by Bristol City and Stoke. The Robins are only 4 points behind Brighton after a 1 - 0 home win over Peterborough. Stoke have got to within 5 points of Brighton after an easy win at home to Bury, 4 - 0 the scoreline. Stoke entertain Brighton on Friday night. Brentford were the only top 6 side to lose, that defeat at Oldham. Huddersfield and Cardiff of course did not play. With City now in 8th place the teams hoping to catch up all suffered tonight. Tranmere in 9th were held at Wrexham, Q.P.R. scored a 90th minute equaliser to gain a point at home to Wigan, Wycombe lost at home to Reading and Port Vale were beaten away at City's next opponents Northampton. Top half of the table
Its still there to play for. Cardiff must concentrate on winning their own games. The match at Sixfields on Saturday is all that matters. A win would give the elusive three league wins in a row and we follow that up with two home games against Q.P.R and Blackpool. The last 4 home games have all been wins with no goals conceeded. |
