Former Swansea defender Jason Price has found a new lease of life at Prenton Park. The 24 year old from Aberdare was reported to be a Cardiff target last year but nothing came of it. Price left the Vetch and spent a few months at Brentford but refused the offer of a one year contract. Along came Tranmere with a two year deal and Price went North.

In 13 games since joining Tranmere Price has scored 10 goals. 4 of which have come in the FA Cup, he has scored in each round.

Talking to the Tranmere official website Price says he is looking to put one over on Cardiff for the stick he has received in the past

“I had trials with them (Cardiff) when I was younger and they showed me the door, so I owe them one. I also used to be a fan, when I was a young lad, I used to follow the crowd and go to the games because the area I was from were all Cardiff fans.

“I’ll also get a lot of stick off their fans, having been a Swansea City player but I’m looking forward to it.

“It’s a game I really want to win, but I’d give that up for three points because we need every point in the league.

“This game is a bonus but we’ll go out there and give it our best shot and if it’s not good enough then we can just concentrate on the league. You never know who you might get in the next round so we’ll be going all guns blazing and hopefully we can have a smile on our face, as we’re leaving the pitch and hopefully we can get Man United at home, which would be nice.”

Price could be joined upfront by Paul Rideout. Rideout has an FA Cup winners medal, playing and scoring for Everton in the 1995 final. Rideout also scored an amazing hat trick a season or two back for Tranmere against Southampton. The Saints were 3 - 0 up at Prenton Park but a 21 min hat trick by Rideout and a winner from Stuart Barlow saw Tranmere win 4 - 3.

Rideout spoke of Cardiff

"I think there’s pressure because it’s Cardiff and they are in the same league as us. We’ve been to their place, we know what they’re about and we know that they are a good side.

"They’ve spent a lot of money this season and aren’t doing particularly well in the league, but they did superbly against Leeds and it’s going to be a difficult game for us.

"But at the end of the day it is the FA Cup, obviously our main priority is promotion, the club needs it financially and if we don’t get it this year, we’re going to be in trouble, so that’s the main priority."
