City moved into the play off zone after a nail-biting ending to the Welsh Derby.

For the third time this season City have triumphed over Wrexham, twice in the league and once in the FAW Premier Cup.

City were threatening to do to Wrexham what they did to Oldham last week. Scott Young gave City a 14th minute lead with a header in off the bar. Peter Thorne scored 2 minutes later when he stooped to head home an Andy Campbell cross. Thorne again went close when he hit the post.

City looked like they would romp home but Wrexham pulled one back 10 mins before half time. City were lax when the Robins won a free kick on the right and as City were planning to defend Darren Ferguson crossed quickly and Craig Faulconbridge headed into the empty net.

The goal of the game came from Daniel Gabbidon just two minutes into the second half. Gabbidon picked up the ball on the left wing in a deep position. He ran to the edge of the Wrexham box avoiding two challenges and and steered a wonderful curling shot past the Wrexham keeper.

Game set and match? Not quite. Wrexham battled and the caused concern when Hector Sam scored on 88 mins. Wrexham pushed for an equaliser but fortunately City held out.

In the past we have thrown these matches away but now we are holding on for vital wins. Bury, Northampton and Wrexham are testament to this.

Lennie has now been in charge for 7 games, no losses, 5 wins and two draws. 17 points from 21 have put City into the play off zone ahead of Bristol City.
