kavceleb.jpg (10165 bytes)Graham Kavanagh welcomes his former team mates to Ninian Park tonight with a point to prove.

Kav opted to join Cardiff in a bid for first division football but it's Stoke who are ahead on points at the moment.

Kav, currently City's second leading goalscorer with 10, nearly all contenders for goal of the season, received a hostile reception when he went back to the Britannia before Christmas.

"I expected it to be rough but the reception I got was terrible. Kavanagh recallsI really didn't think it would be that bad. After all, I gave them five years' service, scored 35 goals for them and they made a £500,000 profit on me."

Kavangh is looking forward to tonights game

"I'm really fired up for this one but I'm not going to think that I'm playing against Stoke. I just want to go out and play my normal game."

Kavanagh knows tonight could be make a break in a bid for automatic promotion

"If we don't win this game we can forget automatic promotion. If Stoke beat us they will go 12 points clear of us in the table. But if we win then it's down to six points and they'll be looking over their shoulders. Even if we draw it's not the end of the world because at least Stoke won't have increased the gap over us. This is a key game for us and it's vitally important that we win it. At the moment I'll accept finishing in the play-offs because we've not picked up points in the games we were expected to. If we carry on conceding silly goals and not scoring at the other end, then we won't even make the play-offs. We don't need to improve our performances, we need to improve our results. We're capable of doing that."

City other former Stoke player Peter Thorne is still out injured and will play no part in tonights game.
