| Sun 17th February 2002. Cork facing the boot | |
| February Headlines

The rumours on this Sunday morning are that Alan Cork will be offered the chance to resign or be sacked today. The patience of the fans has run out and their feelings have been vented over the hours since the 4 - 0 reverse at Wigan. Sam Hammam is known to be unhappy with the situation and he has received many calls and text messages from fans travelling home from Wigan yesterday. The rumours started within an hour of the final whistle that Sam has lost patience and will ask Cork to do the decent thing.
The Nationwide website are carrying the
following quotes from an un-named source.
"Sam will offer Cork the chance to resign on
Sunday - if he decides not to take it, he'll be told to pack his bags.
Hammam was desperate to give Cork a chance in management, but he's now
convinced he can take the club no further. Sam is deeply upset about all of
this because he's known Corky over 20 years - man and boy." Should Cork leave today then Lennie Lawrence
is sure to take over until the end of the season at least. Cardiff City while still only 5 points off
the play off places are a team struggling. Millions of pounds spent on
quality players who have given up and are not playing for their manager. A
change is needed and it should be done now. |
