City
have suffered a major injury blow with the news that Spencer Prior has fractured a
vertibrae and could be out for upto 6 weeks. Prior was injured in last Saturdays defeat at
home to Peterborough. Rhys Weston came on for Prior and filled the centre half role. This weekend City can either keep Rhys in the centre or move him out to right full back and bring Daniel Gabbidon to centre half. Alan Cork said of Prior's injury "It's disappointing because the injury is worse than we had thought. We were hoping that he would just miss Saturday's match with Wycombe, but he could be out for up to six weeks." David Hughes maybe called up as defensive cover on the bench. Leon Jeanne has been rewarded for his fine second half display at Newtwon last night with a return to the first team squad. Jeanne is unlikely to start at Wycombe but could be a substitute. City are still without Peter Thorne who is targeting a return to the reserve team next week with a possible return to the squad for the FA Cup trip to Tranmere a week Sunday. Scott McCulloch, Kurt Nogan and Matt Brazier were all injured in the reserves game against Brentford and Martyn Giles picked up an injury against Newtown. Giles and Brazier though were both fine after their matches McCulloch should be OK but Nogan has torn a calf muscle. Michael Simpkins is in full training but currently has flu. Des Hamilton is now fiully recovered and did well against Newtwon despite giving away an unconverted penalty. Its also been reported that Shrewsbury Town are interested in signing right back Andy Thompson on loan. Thompson is on the transfer list and Alan Cork is allowing the player to decide. |
