The ghost of Simon Haworth could come back to haunt us this weekend. Haworth has been linked to City of late as City have struggled with injury's and suspensions to the strikers currently at the club.

Simon is available on a bosman at the end of the season and Wigan are hoping to sell him before the transfer deadline and recoup some of the £600,000 odd they paid for him.

A figure of around £175,000 will temp them to sell. Tranmere and Gillingham have been linked but they cannot come up with the money. Alan Cork has categorically said that he is not interested in the former Bluebird and Corky is looking elsewhere for a loan striker.

An injury to Wigan striker Andy Lidell looks like opening the door for Haworth to return to the Wigan starting line up.

Many Cardiff fans have called to see "Bambi" come back to Ninian Park to help out the current striker crisis, the player himself has said he is keen and he was in Cardiff this week on the bench for Wales against Argentina.

Quite how Cardiff City fans would take it, if Simon Haworth scored a winning goal for Wigan tomorrow and thereby making it even more difficult to get to the plays off, I don't know. I may be tempting fate here but the lack of cover in attack has cost Cardiff City this season. Haworth has his admirers and critics but he's a striker, proven at this level and for what it would have cost to buy him could turn out to be pocket change if it means missing out on promotion.
