Kavanagh picked up his 10th yellow card of the season at Brentford on Tuesday night and
now faces a two match ban. It starts 14 days from the last incident and that means that Kav will be absent when City travel to play off rivals Huddersfield at the McAlpine Stadium on Feb 26th and the following Saturday, March 2nd as City travel to Northampton. This Saturday against Wigan, City can welcome back Andy Legg after he missed the Brentford game with suspension but the Bluebirds will be with Leo FW as he is banned after his sending off against Brighton. Peter Thorne will have to start the game at the JJB alongside Jason Bowen. Bowen has scored 3 trimes in the last two games and between them they must conjur up the goals to get City back into winning ways. The defeat at Brentford was a body blow but City can bounce back. We have not won three games on the trot all season but if we can beat Wigan we then face releagtion strugglers Bury on Tuesday and relegation certainties Cambridge the following Saturday. These battles aginst the strugglers are never easy but its the last throw of the dice for City. How serious are we about making the play offs? City are reported to be looking for a loan striker to cover while we suffer a shortage on centre forwards. Earnie and Gavin Gordon are injured, Thorne is only just getting back into action, this weekend Leo is suspended, Kurt Nogan is out for the season and in amongst all this we let Kevin Nugent leave the club. It should never have been allowed to get to this stage. We should have brought in cover for Thorne when he was first injured. You can pay at the gate on Saturday at Wigan's JJB Stadium. |
