Obviously most of the teams we played this season just ending, of the seven newcomers we've played five of them within the last couple of seasons.

Of the teams coming down from Division 1 we played Crewe in the FA Cup in January 2001. A 1 - 1 draw at Ninian Park was followed by a 2 - 1 defeat at a very cold and frosty Gresty Rd.

Stockport County last played against City in 1994. Stockport won 4 - 1 in the August on the opening day of the 94/95 season while the teams drew 1 - 1 at Ninian Park a week before Christmas.

Barnsley sets the mind racing back to 1985 when City won 3 - 0 at Ninian Park in April. Earlier in the season Barnsley won 2 - 0 at Oakwell.

Of the teams coming up from Division 3 we played Plymouth, Mansfield and Cheltenham in our promotion season 2000/2001 and Luton we last played on Sunday 30th January 2000. The Hatters beat us 3 - 1 at Ninian Park, Jason Bowen's 89th minute consolation not enough to save Frank Burrows his job. The day after the Luton debacle Frank was gone. Oh and by the way, Luton's manager that day. Lennie Lawrence.

So there we have it, not quite as glamorous as Wolves, Leicester, Derby, Ipswich etc but much more appealing than Boston, Rushden, Torquay, Carlisle and Hartlepool. Roll on August 10th.
