City again dropped points at home and are making as difficult as possible to make it into the play offs. The opening 10 minutes could have seen City ahead by at least three goals but the failure to take chances was punished by Blackpool who scored twice with their only two efforts on target. Only when City went 0 - 2 down did they realise there was a job to do. Andy Campbell scored both Cardiff's goal's the first a true poachers goal when he was first to react to a rebound after Willie Boland's shot was saved and the second was a delightful chip after sub Leo FW chested the ball down for him to score from 20 yards. Campbell was guilty of missing a 1 / 1 chance as was Thorne and although City had more chances it was a very below par performance. It's hard to put a finger on exactly what went wrong today, maybe just a bad day at the office, but Blackpool were there for the taking and we shot ourselves in the foot. Even as the game drew to a close we could not muster an attack at pace, we had more backpasses that Blackpool had efforts on goal. We stay 8th. The higher play off places look harder to reach. If we manage to scrape 6th we will be doing well but we are competing with Oldham and Huddersfield and we visit Boundary Park next Saturday. We got out of jail with a point today, it's not enough but against a better team we would have got zilch. On the balance of play we did not deserve to lose the game but we were lucky after gifting Blackpool two goals. Graham Kavanagh picked up his 13th booking of the season and is now only two more yellow cards away from another suspension. Andy Campbell has now scored three goals in three games. He could have scored a hat trick today but we are grateful for the two he did score to earn us the point. Next week at Oldham is a must win game if City want to make the play offs. We cannot afford to lose. |
