City need to worry about themselves and ensure
their own three points as a play off place is sought. Here's a look though
at the other fixtures this weekend.
Leaders Reading play second placed Brighton in the Match of the Day. City must aim a touch lower, concentrate on the play of places. Stoke in third are in good form, they are away at Wycombe and while I think Wycombe are out of the play off scene we could do with the Chairboys pulling out all the stops and getting a result against Stoke. Brentford in 4th have a tough trip to Wrexham. Denis Smith's men pulled off a great win at Port Vale in midweek to kill off the Valiants play off bid and to help contribute towards Wrexham's survival plans. Wrexham would do themselves and City a huge favour by beating Brentford. Bristol City are not having it easy of late. They have the "sure thing" this weekend. A home game against Cambridge who have not won away all season. If Bristol City fail to win here they need stuffing (no disrespect to Cambridge) but the U's did beat the Robins to get to the LDV Vans final at the Millennium Stadium. Oldham in 6th are away at Wigan. Failure to win could see City overtake them. Huddersfield have a home tie against Swindon, should be easy enough and a win for the Terriers would mean City cannot get into the top 6 after tomorrow's games. The teams directly behind City, Q.P.R. and Tranmere are home and away respectively. Rangers entertain Chesterfield while Tranmere are away at Port Vale. So City are looking for Bristol City, Oldham and Huddersfield to slip up. The best City can hope for is 5th place but it would take a home win and some good fortune in the other games for that to happen. |
