Cardiff make one addition to the squad that travelled to
Bournemouth when Swindon visit Ninian Park on Saturday. Leo FW returns after a one game suspention. He is also available for Tuesday's game against Brentford before being suspended again for the trip to Wigan. The full squad is therefore Alexander, Weston, Young, Gabbidon, Legg, Boland, Kavanagh, Bonner, Bowen, Gordon, Maxwell, Earnshaw, Low, Brayson, Hamilton, Simpkins, Leo FW. Leo's arrival will mean one of the 16 on duty at Dean Court will miss out on a place on the bench. Cork chose Jason Bowen and Rob Earnshaw as the strike partnership against Bournmouth and it worked well. Alan Cork must now decide if he will keep the wingback formation and the two small strikers or will either Leo or Gavin Gordon start alongside Earnie with maybe Bowen dropping back into midfield, if he does can he accomodate Bowen, Kav, Bonner and Boland all 4 of whom played well at Bournemouth in the midfield? Maybe a 4 - 4 - 2 but then we lose a wingback. Hamilton had a good game at Bournemouth as well. Personally I would keep it as it is with the option of bringing on the big fella up front if needed. Its our home game, its up to us to take the game to Swindon and if we do that like we did aginst Bournemouth we should have no problems. Attack with pace, Bowen and Earnie have no problems in doing just that. The Bluebirds will be hoping to make it 4 wins in 5 league games against a Swindon side now managed by Andy King. When City beat Swindon at The County Ground last year they were managed by former Liverpool boss Roy Evans. King saw his side lose at home to Huddersfield in their last match but that was the only defeat in the last 6 games. Three wins, two draws and that loss have seen Swindon pushing towards the top half of the table. Cardiff in their last 6 league games have won three times and lost three times. We have not drawn a game since Boxing Day. A win could at best see City move up to 6th place. Brentford and Oldham would have to lose their games and Tranmere and Q.P.R do no better than manage a draw. Over the years the two clubs have rarely met. Its been over 25 years since Swindon came to Ninian Park for a competitive game. Then on April 17th 1976 the teams drew 0 - 0. City's last home win over the Robins was on Boxing Day 1973 when they triumphed 2 - 1. The last meeting of the clubs was a comfortable 3 - 0 win for Cardiff in front of the live HTV camera's in October. (Match report here) The only other time since the mid 70's was a 1995 FA Cup win for Swindon by 2 goals to nil. Anoth 11,000 plus crowd is expected at Ninian Park and lets hope for a great game of football and three points to the Bluebirds. Top half of Div 2
