Paul Brayson has been released by Cardiff City. Kurt Nogan is also out of contract and has also been released.

City could be looking to offload upto 10 more players as well.

Already gone from Ninian Park are loan players Stephen Bywater (back to West Ham) and Gary Croft (back to Ipswich). Thank you guys.

Names mentioned today as being candidates for a summer clearout by Lennie are

Des Hamilton, Josh Low, David Hughes, Andrew Jordan, Michael Simpkins, Gavin Gordon, Lee Kendall, Martyn Giles, Kevin Evans and Leo FW.

Lennie told the Echo

"Paul Brayson is a bit unlucky, but we have a lot of forwards and he is being freed. Kurt Nogan is also being released, although he may stay with us early next season while he fully recovers from his Achilles injury.

"There are other players who are still under contract and may move on eventually, but nothing is likely to happen until well into the summer because other clubs won't want to pay their wages.

"Players who have not figured during the second half of this season, for whatever reason, will have to make a big effort during pre-season to establish themselves in the squad.

"A number will be released, sold or loaned out. I would like to cut the squad in numbers and increase the quality overall."

"Fortune-West has been in the team and we have had no offers from any other club. He has made a big contribution since I took charge, but nobody can be guaranteed a team place now."

As far as new faces are concerned the Echo have come up with the usual suspects, Danny Coyne from Grimsby, Bristol City's Murray, Thorpe and Bell and Andy Melville from Fulham.

In my opinion Lennie's plan for next season must be to find players to play in their correct positions and get back to a 4 - 4 - 2 formation to make the most the width of the pitch. Watching Stoke spread the ball wide over the last two games made me realise just how much we rely on the middle of the pitch.
