Leaders Reading can virtually assure
themselves a promotion spot when they take on lowly Bournemouth at the Madjeski tomorrow.
The Royals are already 9 points ahead of the first play off place and should be able to
complete the season as Champions. Second pace Brighton are also at home.
They play Wycombe. Brighton will welcome back Bobby Zamora after his
three match ban (Brighton only picked up two points in those three matches). I think a
draw is the best outcome as far as City is concerned. Brighton do not pull ahead too much
and Wycombe do not catch up so much. Stoke City face an awkward trip to
Colchester. As far as City are concerned it has to be a home win. Stoke though are off the
back of a couple of wins and will be confident. Brentford have a home game against
Swindon. Should be easy enough for them, their home form is good. Good luck to Swindon as
anything other than a Brentford win is good for Cardiff City. Bristol City face a real tricky game at Tranmere.
The scousers are 6 points behind City at the moment and like the Brighton / Wycombe game a
draw would probably suit City best. Bristol City at one stage looked like running well
away from cardiff but we could be level on points with them tomorrow. Oldham face a very stiff test at
strugglers Bury. The Shakers shocked Wycombe on Saturday by winning 2 - 0 at Adams Park
and if they can beat local rivals Oldham at Gigg Lane then Cardiff City fans will be very
appreciative. Bury are in all sorts of trouble financially and cannot afford to be
relegated. Its a must win game for them. Huddersfield also have a tough away game.
They visit Chesterfield for a sort of derby game. Like with Bury v Oldham any favours
thehome team can do by stopping Oldham or Huddersfield from winning will be good news for
City. Huddersfield drew nil nil on Saturday. I feel they will do again. Cardiff City. Well what can I say. We must
get the 4th win on the trot. Beating Q.P.R will not be easy but it would
put us 6 points ahead of Rangers who are currently one place behind us. It would also
maintain a minimum 6 point gap over Tranmere and Wycombe, more if both fail to win. Neil
Alexander has not picked the ball out of his own net in the last 396 minutes of action.
Thats over 6 and half hours of home action where the defence has not been breached. That
was against Peterborough back on Jan 12th. Since then Stoke, Swindon, Bury and Cambridge
have all tried and failed to score at Ninian Park. Port Vale in 12th, are 8 points behind the
final play off place. Games are straing to run out for them to get up there. They play at
home to Wrexham who are fighting for their survival. Cardiff could be in a play off place by tomorrow night. We could even be within 4 points of a promotion place depending on other results. We can't rely on others, any favours they do will be warmly accepted. Bottom line is that it's up to us. Win our two home games this week and we will be right in there. |
