kavanagh6.jpg (11563 bytes)City skipper Graham Kavanagh has the chance to impress Irish boss Mick McCarthy in Sunday's game against Leeds. Kavanagh has already made 3 appearances for the Republic and has scored an international goal. He was on the fringes of the squad that earned qualification to the World Cup and will have the chance to prove to McCarthy that he could be a potential squad member for the trip to the World Cup in the summer.

McCarthy has confirmed he will be watching the game on television and he can also keep an eye on his Leeds players, Ian Harte and Gary Kelly.

Ireland have several friendlies coming up as they prepare for the finals and McCarthy has not ruled out any players

"Kav's a top guy, a top lad and if he performs well against Leeds United on Sunday that can only increase his chances. Nobody is ruled out and everybody has a chance if they are playing well, no matter which division they are playing in. I'll watch Cardiff play Leeds on television and I'd love to see Kav do well. There are a few players closer to World Cup selection than others, but I can honestly say nobody has been discounted."

Good luck to Graham.
