What a massive result today's 1 - 0 win actually is. With Bristol City losing a Brighton City are now 4 points ahead of 7th place with a game in hand. We could guarantee a play off place next Saturday.

Milestones today include a 4th straight win, first time this season. A second straight clean sheet. 4 league doubles achieved in the last 4 games. Lennie taking 23 points from the last 27 on offer inc 7 wins and 2 draws.

As for today's game there was a nervousness about it and City did not create the chances you would expect but after the second of two dramatic changes City went ahead.

In the first half the assistant referee (linesman) pulled a hamstring and was taken off to be replaced by the 4th official. Comically, then in the second half, the referee fell awkwardly and appeared to dislocate his shoulder and a local official took the line while the previous assistant went into the middle. Within 30 seconds of that change City were ahead.

Thorne reacted quickest to a ball flicked on and he powered his way through to fire into the net and ease the tension that was forming around Ninian Park. City were rarely threatened and held on for one of the most important wins this season.

Bristol City looked to have blown it. A win for the Bluebirds at Colchester next week could see off any possible challenge from the Wurzels. Bristol are at home to Bury who are fighting for survival at the bottom of the table.
