| March Headlines |
At last, a league match to preview. Its been 15 days since City last competed for
points, then Carlisle took the long and winding road home to Cumbria with a flea in their
ear. City in the last two league matches have rattled up 8 goals and will be looking to
add to that tally tomorrow. City boss Alan Cork has taken a "pop" over the decision to move the tie to a Sunday. He was not happy with the extra pressure on the City players knowing the results of the other matches played on the Saturday. In truth this is Cheltenhams biggest ever league game. Cardiff sold out their tickets in under 6 hours and the demand to see the game has resulted in the "big screen" being erected at Ninian Park with upto 5,000 expected at Ninian and the 1,200 fans in the City end at Whaddon Rd plus unconfirmed reports of several hundred in other parts of the ground. The Bluebirds can take another step towards an almost certain promotion with a win at Cheltenham. City are likely to start the game with the same XI that started against Carlisle all those days ago. There will be action on the bench though, Mark Bonner is back in the squad and so is Earnie. Nice and Easy as far is Earnie is concerned, the little striker has has already done enough to get us up and after one failed return we do not want to push him too hard. City have had two memorable meeting with Cheltenham already this season. Firstly City beat the Robins in the FA Cup 3 - 1 and then the following weekend City won 3 - 1 again in the league. Both games ended with Cheltenham having only 10 men at the end of the game. Julian Alsop the former Swansea striker was sent off in the first game and he will miss tomorrows match through injury. Cheltenham will not make it easy tomorrow, they are a hard team and City will be in a scrap. Attituide will play an important factor. City players must keep their heads because I think Cheltenham will want to play tough again. City expected to be Walton, Low, Gabbidon, Hughes, Legg, Young, Weston, Boland, Bowen, Leo, Brayson. Subs from Muggleton, McCulloch, Earnie, Bonner, Evans, Jordan, Nogan. |
