Jason Fowler (left) will sign on a free transfer today for Torquay
Utd. City's official webiste announced the move and its thought he may be in time to play
for the Gulls tomorrow.Fowler was slated in the papers today by Alan Cork for refusing to move from Ninian Park. While Cork did not mention the player by name the Western Mail revealed that Cork was talking about Fowler. Cork said "One of my players was offered the chance to go to another club, but he refused because he wants to stay at Cardiff and take the money instead of playing football. That shows you that players don't want to play football anymore. If they want to play then they will go anywhere. I used to travel miles to play football. I'm disappointed players aren't like that anymore. A club has offered him a contract for the rest of this season and the whole of the next one and it's a decent deal. Even the player's agent can't believe he has turned it down." But now it appears that Fowler has accepted the offer from Torquay Utd. Jason is a quality player who runs hot and cold. He will be best remembered for his superb goal against Brentford in Jan 1999. Since then he has had to overcome a thyroid illness and now has the chance to resurrect his career. Fowler becomes the first of the "unwanted" players at Ninian Park to leave the club. There is talk of Hamilton Academicals looking at taking Scott McCulloch on loan and there is still uncertainty over possible moves to Colchester for Matt Brazier and Kevin Nugent. Best wishes to Jason and good luck at Torquay Utd. |
