| Thurs 30th August 2001 - Thorne deal progressing? | |

The
Stoke Sentinel, the Potteries eqivilent of the Echo has reported this afternoon that City
and Stoke are still in hard negotiations for Peter Thorne's signature. With Norwich saying Iwan Roberts is not for sale and any deal for Andy Booth likely to take a while its possible that City could got for Thorne and get him signed before City next play. The paper claim that City are prepared to up their offer of £1.3m and the financially struggling Potters may have to sell. If Thorne were to leave Stoke for Cardiff City or anyone else there would be uproar from Stoke City fans. They claim they have been let down by their board who are selling their best players. Graham Kavanagh, the infuential midfielder was sold in the summer. Of course you knew that as we bought him. Fans on the Stoke City message boards have written letters to the club pleading with them not to sell Thorne and then saying if they do they will be demanding season ticket refunds. While I sympathise with the Stoke fans who are seeing their better players sold to be replaced with cheaper ones I obviously have my club at heart and if Thorne is that good a striker I would welcome him to Ninian Park. |
