Crystal
palace manager Steve Bruce is the latest admirer of Robert Earnshaw's goal scoring talent.
Bruce watched on as Earnie ripped the life out of Palace with a hat-trick at Ninian park
on Saturday. Earnie enjoyed the attention and treated the crowd to three celebration
somersaults. Bruce said of the player "Everyone in the game got to know about Earnshaw from the goals he scored for Cardiff last season. "A goal scorer will always attract attention. I noticed the impact he made. He's got pace, sharpness and that priceless finishing flair. "It's what we are all looking for - someone who is bright and lively, quick off the mark and can score goals. "But he'll find it harder this season. He had the element of surprise a year ago. Opponents didn't know what to expect. "Now he's moved up to the Second Division where defenders will be that much better and more prepared for him. "The lad has the potential to reach the very top. But that's all it is right now. "This is a big learning season for him. Let's see how he gets on at the next level before we go overboard about him. "I hope he continues to score goals for Cardiff. I'll be interested to see if he does. "His pace certainly caused us problems, but he won't find many Second Division defences as charitable. Individual errors cost us dearly. Cardiff scored twice in the first 25 minutes on a very hot afternoon and the game was over. "We improved in the second half and created one or two chances, but more mistakes cost us another two goals. City boss Alan Cork was protective of his hit man saying "Earnie has the pace which kills defenders and when he breaks through you know he'll score. "But I don't want him to get carried away by his early success. Talented youngsters have to keep their feet on the ground. "That's why I don't let him give interviews at present."But he will when the the time is right." |
