The FAW have returned a suspended sentence
on City player Leon Jeanne after he was found guilty of testing positive for class A
drugs.Simply put it means that Jeanne can continue to play football. Sam Hammam has praised the FAW for their treatment of the player. He has been given a 2 year suspended sentence with strict rehabilitation conditions. Sam has said about the FAW "They recognised Leon is a soul who never had a chance in life and acted in a humane manner." He went onto say "Leon will join Alcoholics Anonymous. He will also receive a proper scholastic education - his education will be monitored until he becomes fully literate. I now want him to improve - he should receive his inspiration from the likes of Tony Adams and Paul Merson. I only wish he could read their books and share what they went through." This must surely be Leon's last chance. If he breaks the rules again while the suspended sentence is hanging over him he will blow any chance of making it as a footballer. I'm not sure of his fitness levels and whether there is any chance of Leon playing soon. We will have to wait for the club to announce those details. |
