Iwan
Roberts has said if there was another club he'd like to play for other than Norwich it
would be Cardiff City. Roberts said "I was doing a fans' forum the other day and I was asked that if I wasn't at Norwich who would I like to play for. "I did say Cardiff because my wife is from Cardiff, my in-laws live there and it's a fantastic club. "They've got the right people running the club, they're very ambitious and it's going places. The rumour is that City could be about to table a bid of around £300,000 for the Wales striker. There is a fair chance that Iwan will start for Wales against Armenia this coming Saturday. Roberts still has a contract at Norwich until 2003 and feels he can still play at that level. He hasid though he would like to return to Wales to finish his career. "I'm happy at Norwich and have got another year left on my contract after this season, but if I did have to leave it's something that I would seriously consider. I don't think you can say that you're definitely staying somewhere these days. "I wouldn't mind coming back to Wales. I'm from North Wales, a Welsh-speaker, and my parents still live in Wales. "It's not something that I've thought about or had chance to do yet - but it's something that is possible." "Apart from Leicester, Norwich has probably been the most fruitful part of my career," he said. "I've averaged 20 goals a season for the last three years and I'm fitter than I've been at any stage of my career." Roberts joins Stoke City's Peter Thorne and Huddersfield's Andy Booth as the main targets for City. Alan Cork has alays said he is continually looking to improve the squad so don't be surprised if more names are linked. |
