Colchester
are top of Division 2 after a 2 - 0 home win against Port Vale. Bristol City are the only
team in Division 2 with a 100% record but they did not play yesterday as they were
scheduled to play Cardiff City but that match was postponed on Police advice. Second place are Brentford who won at home 2 -1 against Cambridge. Former City target Paul Evans with both goals for the Bees. Bristol City drop to 3rd with Huddersfield upto 4th after a 2 - 1 win at Peterborough, the Terriers going one better than City did at London Rd. Andy Booth was on target in that game. Another current City target Peter Thorne scored a consolation penalty for Stoke as they were beaten 2 - 1 at home by Tranmere. A first win of the season for the Merseysiders. City have dropped to 13th place by not playing and could drop to an artificially low position when they miss out again on playing this Saturday. Another noticeable result yesterday was a 4 - 0 home win by promoted Brighton over promoted Blackpool. A goal apiece for former City players Charlie Oatway and Richard Carpenter and one for alledged target Bobby Zamora. Lee Steele scored the other goal. It was a very bad day for Blackpool as Martin Bullock was sent off as was manager Steve McMahon. The other promoted team from last season Chesterfield earned a point at Notts County thanks to a 90th minute equaliser. City's next home opponents Northampton play at Oldham tonight. The Cobblers are currently bottom with no points. |
