| Mon 28th May 2001 - Alexander agrees to sign for City | |
| May Headlines |
Neil Alexander has agreed a move to Ninian Park. The 23 year old keeper from
Livingstone has decided to play for Cardiff next season rather than the Scottish Premier
League. Alexander was named Livingstone's player of the season just a few weeks ago. With City's new policy of not making any statements until deals have been carved in stone then we can expect no official announcement until Neil's signature is on the dotted line but Livingstone's manager Jim Leishman today confirmed "I have spoken to Bobby Gould this morning, and we have agreed to let Neil Alexander join them. We wish him all the best." A fee will be paid by Cardiff City. Alexander is out of contract but at only 23 he is too young for Bosman. A fee of £200,000 was quoted in the Scottish press last week but Leishman was not giving away the figure and said "You'd have to ask them how much he cost. But put it this way; it won't give me an awful lot to spend." Neil Alexander factfile. Previous Clubs. Neil has played 120 career games and has represented Scotland at U21 level. Welcome to Ninian Park Neil. |
