What a promotion party. As the referee blew the final whistle, the players and officials ran for the tunnel while thousands of City fans engulfed the pitch. Prior to the end of the game City had produced a better second half performance to complete the 2000 / 2001 season unbeaten at Ninain Park. The only team in all four divisions to do this. Also when Scott Young fired in his second goal of the game and City's third Cardiff had broken the club record 93 goals in the league in one season. That record now stands at 94 with one game to go. Well done to the players for their excellent contribution.

Inbetween Young's goals (his 11th and 12th of the season, not bad for a central defender) Rob Earnshaw scored his 24th goal.

Youngs first was a tap in after reacting first to a parry from the keeper. Earnie got between the last defender and the keeper to round the goalie and slot in, Young then scored with a 16 yard blast that nearly broke the back of the net.

Just before the end of the game the first streaker I've ever seen at NP ran onto the pitch to the amusement of everyone, he danced his way to the goals, climbed up the post and sidestepped a stewart who fell over trying to catch him. Quality entertainment. I don't condone people on the pitch it did make me smile.

Then Sam and the players took the applause from the directors box, then fans went home happy. Division 2 here we come.
