Peter Thorne and Gavin Gordon have both played themselves into contention for Saturdays game against Oldham after successfully coming through a reserve game against Derby County at the Baseball Ground today.

The game finished 2 - 2 with City's goals coming from David Hughes and a Horatio Carbonari own goal.

Alan Cork told City's official website

"It was really good for the boys and everyone enjoyed it and it was nice to see my home town again, the Baseball Ground holds special memories for me. The boys did really well against a strong Derby team and everybody came through the game ok which means Peter Thorne and Gavin Gordon will be available for selection on Saturday."

Thorne has missed the last 5 weeks with injury and his potential return on Saturday will be a massive boost for Cardiff City.

City lined up Kendall, Jones, Hughes, Weston, D Gordon (Giles 70), Kavanagh, Bowen (Fish 45), Maxwell, F-West (Wallis 70), Thorne (G. Gordon 45), Low.
